Brushing, flossing, and the use of mouthwash are basic things that we all (hopefully) do every day. Those simple acts do a lot to keep mouths healthy – but there are some things you can also do that are just as easy to improve your oral health.
Better oral health is imperative to your overall health, and that’s why, here at Henderson Family Dental we place such an emphasis on having the healthiest mouth possible.
Quit soda
This may be hard for some people, but soda has two major ingredients that do a number on your enamel – phosphoric and citric acid. A can or more of soda a day will gradually soften your enamel, meaning you’re far more susceptible to cavities and other forms of tooth decay.
Use the right brush
This bit of advice may have you scratching your head, but it’s worth noting. If you don’t use the right brush, your teeth aren’t getting cleaned as effectively. Use a brush with softer bristles, and replace it every three months.
Lower your blood pressure
If you suffer from high blood pressure, that can put a strain on your oral health. The two may not seem directly connected, but research has proven they are. The reason behind this is if you’re eating foods that raise your blood pressure, you’re likely eating foods that aren’t great for your oral health.
Aside from the regular, every day cleaning procedures, you can implement the above tips to help make your oral health even better. If you have any questions, call us today at 702-564-2526.
